Does anybody know a place to find out more information? The zoo's web site does not provide very much, and the things that it does provide are quite hidden IMO Mwv2 22:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

An editor has proposed merging Toledo Zoo Hippoquarium into this article. Since they're both quite short, I think that'd be an okay merge. --JayHenry (talk) 21:26, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was in the process of a total revamp when you left that comment. Check it out now. нмŵוτнτ 23:04, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I still think the Hippoquarium can be merged. Lord Uniscorn (talk) 06:14, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge - a specific exhibit/area at a specific zoo is not notable enough to constitute its own entry. The article has not improved much in the past 5 months either, so it's obvious there's only so much information that can be incorporated. -Jrcla2 (talk) 17:19, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i agree, but don't know how to delete an article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.1.34.35 (talkcontribs)

I think I will merge the Hippoquarium article into this one right now!! Takinzinnia (talkcontribs) 01:13, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

I added a higher quality picture of the hippos, as well as pics of the actual Eagles and Snow Leopards at the Zoo, and a pic of the gate. Ruby 1x2 (talk) 04:27, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The new photos look great! Thanks for the contributions! --Kralizec! (talk) 15:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like more information. My Son is asking "How do Hippos see underwater?" I even tried seaworld but did not get much information there...dmpolarine@live.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.245.183.114 (talk) 14:18, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Zoo history circa 1960's "Story books and zoo keys"

[edit]

The Toledo Zoo used to have story books at most exhibits. People could purchase zoo keys -- red or yellow plastic flat elephants whose trunks operated the story books. Story books were rectangular metal boxes, powdered blue in color about 16" high, 12-14" wide and 3" deep. They played a recorded message about the animal exhibit when the key was inserted and turned.

"All the animals in the Zoo are jumping up and down for you.

Asking you to be sure to plan to visit the zoo as you can.
Storybooks that really talk, you turn on with a key;
Tell fascinating things about the animals you see.

Story Books and Zoo keys together to guide you through,

A world of new excitement at the (Toledo) Zoo!"

Perhaps WTOL may have something more about these ads. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.240.104.72 (talk) 02:34, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The story book information could be added if you would provide a reference for the information (where did you get it?). THe rest is pure advertizing content and now appropriate in Wikipedia. Don Lammers (talk) 12:18, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updating the Page

[edit]

Hello everyone, I wanted to quickly introduce myself as much you know that I will be working on the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium Wikipedia page for the next couple of weeks. Some of the changes I would like to make include updating the name to their new name of Toledo Zoo and Aquarium as well as adding more media to show the different exhibits. Finally I may possibly be working on restructuring the page a little to move the history into the history section and to add things such as accolades and incidents at the zoo.

I look forward to working with all of you and if you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to reach out to me. I am really excited to work on this page as the zoo has always been a part of my life. I hope to be able to share my love of the zoo with the Wikipedia community!
